Farm, the band

Recovery Lounge with Monsterbuck

After a painful late-May night on Burlington's waterfront we followed the Monsterbuck trail to the Recovery Lounge

in Upper Jay, NY, a land of indescribable beauty where night-time amusements are not lacking and you could also be

offered farm-fresh bacon and eggs in the morning.

Night at the Monkey with Nuda Veritas

Our latest show and last one for a while...

Following a vacation in early June and then a show with a bunch of great local bands on Church Street (hosted by Magic Hat) to benefit the Radiator , we had a fun show at the Monkey House with Nuda Veritas on June 21. It was our last show until we're finished with the new album. The Monkey, Nuda, and a nice bunch of people put up with two sets from farm. Nuda Veritas put on a stellar late-night show of her ethereal electronica folk. Thanks for playing along, thanks always to the Monkey and to everyone who came out.

Launie Kettler took a bunch of pictures (Steve McIntyre and Travis Sturges snapped a few too) and here are some...

farm news
No shows for a while. We're heading back into the Cave of Legends to finish up the new album. We're really close, but still have some tweaks on a few songs and one or two new ones to add. Hopefully some time in August, maybe September. Anybody have a functional Wurlitzer that they want us to use on the new disc? Come on, you know you want us to 'feature' your prized instruments in the Cave. Admit it to yourself...

We played a show in Johnson on Friday, May 9, with The Breaking In . They make us smile. Ominous, stripped down, surfabilly grunge duel-vocal attack. Plus they had a cymbal-holder. Not just a piece of chrome drum hardware, but a guy standing beside the snare holding that tiny little cymbal for something like half the show. Cymbal holder!!! Then one of the monitors crashed to the ground around and on them. It was rockin.
Farm's show went all right. It was unlike any set we've played before because - due to a ghastly finger injury - Joshua can't play guitar for a while. He spent most of the night on drums and was only able to sing a few songs - 'College' and a quickly aborted version of 'StreetLights'. It was still fun and it's great to have a place out in Johnson to play. The Hub is great and we met some real nice people. Though one enthusiastic woman was disappointed when we told her the only 'dance songs' we know are more in the interpretive vein. DJ Jimmer helped us with sound and recorded the show. We'll put up a few songs from it here and on our myspcae page.
Really looking forward to the shows next weekend (Skinny Pancake in Burlington and Recovery Lounge in Upper Jay, NY) because we get to play with Monsterbuck (twice!), check out a new venue (Pancake) and hang out in a beautiful spot with cool folks (Recovery). Can't wait.

 new album in the works

Beginning in late fall, we went back "into the studio" - this time The Cave of Legends in the basement of Ben's coffee shop and music store in Enosburg Falls - and started recording some new stuff.
Check back for early mixes sometime soon and look out for a release sometime in the summer...

We have photos of some recent Cave recording sessions in the photo section.
